Original Single Barrel — 93 Proof
This is the one most people know. Black label, gold details. Bottled at 93 proof and aged at least six years in Warehouse H. The nose is nutmeg and dry vanilla. The finish is medium and clean. It’s the starting point for anyone new to the brand.
Gold Edition — 103 Proof
Gold steps up the intensity. Ten extra proof points make a real difference. You get richer caramel, heavier oak, and more rye spice than the Original. It was an export-only bottle for decades before US drinkers got access in 2020.
Straight From the Barrel
This is the powerhouse of the lineup. Bottled at natural cask strength, usually between 120 and 136 proof. Uncut and unfiltered. What’s in the barrel is exactly what goes in the bottle. The flavor is intense: dark fruit, heavy oak, concentrated vanilla.
Black Edition — 93 Proof
Black is primarily a Japanese market release. It shares the same proof as Original but is aged longer. That extra time adds deeper oak and dried fruit notes. It shows up occasionally in the US through specialty retailers.
Green and Red Labels
Both are Japanese export releases. Green is the lightest in the entire lineup at 80 proof. Red sits at the same proof but is aged a couple of years longer. Most fans who find them buy them more for the collection than for the flavor itself.
The LMDW Series for Serious Collectors
La Maison du Whisky, a French spirits retailer, has released annual single barrel Blanton’s exclusives since 2019. These are selected directly from Warehouse H and bottled at or near cask strength in 700ml format. They’re among the most collectible expressions in the entire lineup.
